On Friday, July 3, 2026, our council supplied free water to festival goers at the Kent Heritage Festival held in downtown. The bottled water came in handy as the day proved to be hot and steamy before late thunderstorms ended the evening. Pictured in the group photo are, from left, GK David Cunningham, Brian Jeffers, Tom Deighen, Don Boland and Steve Smith.

Council #1411 made a $550 donation to the Center of Hope in Ravenna. The donation was comprised of a council match to tips received by the bartenders at the Fall '25 reverse raffle. Presenting the check to a representative of the Center of Hope is PGK Dennis Goodhart.

On Saturday, May 9th, Deputy Grand Knight David Cunningham presented Council #1411's annual Christian Character Awards to eighth graders Anthony Geist, Molly Wiland, Caroline Smith and Jacob Wheeler. Smith also received a $750 scholarship to assist with tuition while continuing her education at a Catholic high school. Pictured are Caroline, Jacob and Anthony, along with DGK Cunningham.

The 35th Annual Special Olympics Invitational Bowling Tournament Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus was held at Spins Bowl in Kent on Saturday, April 18. Fourth Degree Knights posted the colors preceding the bowling action.

On Sunday, February 22, 2026, #1411 Deputy Grand Knight David Cunningham presented St. Patrick School principal Howard Mancini with a donation in the amount of $2,711. The money was raised during the Knights' Christmas Wreath Fundraiser and should provide over 900 lunches at St. Patrick School. Knights from St. Patrick, Newman Center and Ravenna Immaculate Conception Churches participated in the fundraiser. Also in the photos with Cunningham and Mancini are Kent's Tom Deighen and Newman's Michael Liptak.

The 48th Annual Portage County DD Free Throw Contest was held on January 10, 2026, sponsored by the Portage County Knights of Columbus. The competition was held at the Independence recreation facility in Ravenna. Council #1411 assisted at the even with registrations, score keeping, rebounding and refreshments. Thanks to all the participants and volunteers.

The #1411 Annual Christmas Get-Together was held December 16, 2025 at North Water Brewing in Kent. Pizza and salad were on the menu along with a selection of craft beers. A good time was had by all!

On September 10, 2025, Council #1411 donated $600 to St. Patrick's School for assistance with lunches and school supplies. Another $600 will be donated in 2026 for the spring semester. Council has annually donated $1,200 to St. Patrick's School from their charity fund. Council #1411 held their annual Pins and Skins Golf Extravaganza on Sept. 7, 2025 at Sunny Hill Golf Course in Brimfield. On a great afternoon for golf, six teams participated for cash prizes. Afterwards the group enjoyed good food and bragging about their round at Eldorado in Kent. See you next year!

On Saturday, June 22, 2025, a group of Knights joined the St. Patrick's Home and School Association in painting the crosswalk that lead from the school to the church. A switch to rollers and brushes was necessary when the paint sprayer failed to work properly. The final touches were added when St. Patrick Panther green paw prints were added to the white crosswalks.

After the June 2025 monthly council meeting, members got together in the rectory courtyard to say a final goodbye to Pastor David Bridling, who passed away unexpectedly on May 20. Fr. David enjoyed entertaining the Knights after monthly meetings in the courtyard with drinks, cigars and many laughs. Deacon Mike Stabilla hosted the event in remembrance of Fr. David.

Spins Bowl in Kent was the site of the annual Special Olympics Invitational Bowling Tournament sponsored by the Knights of Columbus on Saturday, April 12, 2025. The Knights posted colors and kept the the action moving throughout the afternoon. This was the 34th year of the event.

On Saturday, April 12, 2025, council #1411 hosted the Lord's Lunch at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kent. There were 50 lunches served

The 2025 Portage County DD Hoop Shoot sponsored by the Knights of Columbus was postponed by the weather for one week, but on Saturday, January 18, competitors got together at Independence of Portage County gymnasium in Ravenna for some basketball action. Portage County Knights assisted with registrations, score keeping, rebounding and refreshments.

On December 17, 2024, council #1411 held their annual Christmas get-together at the North Water Brewing in Kent. Joining the Knights for the festivities were Pastor David Bridling and Parochial Vicar Will Wainio. The Knights enjoyed pizza, salad and a selection of beverages. A good time was had by all!

On Oct. 29, 2024, Council #1411 continued it's support of St. Patrick School with a donation of $1,200 for the 2024-2025 school year. The donation is to be used for school supplies and other needed items. Presenting the check on behalf of the Knights is Past Grand Knight Denny Goodhart (l) to school principal Howard Mancini.

On Saturday, July 27, 2024, council #1411 attended an Akron RubberDucks baseball game. Brother Joe Polack got in the spirit of things with the help of Orbit, one of the mascots on hand. In addition to the ballgame, a pre-game picnic and post-game fireworks were enjoyed by all in attendance.

The Portage County Special Olympics Bowling Invitational was held on Saturday afternoon, April 13, at Spins Bowl in Kent. Athletes represented Portage DD, Medina DD, Stark Public Schools, Summit Hudson and UDS All-Star Training Club. This was the 33rd year for the event.

On Saturday morning, April 13, 2024, council #1411 sponsored another community food drive at the Hometown Bank Plaza in downtown Kent.

On Sunday, February 18, council prepared and served their "famous" parish breakfast for the first time in 2024. Parishioners enjoyed a hearty breakfast between masses that Sunday.

On Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024 the Kent Knights assisted at the annual Portage County DD basketball hoop shoot. Grand Knight Bobby DiMauro read a proclamation declaring Saturday as Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities Basketball Hoop Shoot day.

On September 13, 2023, Council #1411 Past Grand Knight Dennis Goodhart (left) presented a check for $600 to St. Patrick School principal Howard Mancini. The check is the second installment of a $1,200 donation the Knights made to the school during the 2023 calendar year. The money will be used to assist the school with any needed supplies or other items during the fall semester.

The Knights recently completed their 2023 bocce season with a year-end tournament. Crowned as regular season champions were the Comeback Kids, who were edged out for the tournament championship by Geno's Goombahs by a final score of 21-17. On Saturday, August 5, 2023, council #1411 enjoyed a night at Akron's Canal Park to watch the RubberDucks take on the Somerset Patriots. Although the Ducks didn't come away with a victory, a great time was still enjoyed by all. The evening started with a buffet dinner and bobblehead giveaway, and capped off with fireworks.

On Sunday, June 18, 2023, Bishop David Bonnar of the Youngstown Diocese, dedicated the Memorial to the Unborn at Saint Patrick's Church. The memorial was a joint project sponsored by council #1411 of the Knights of Columbus, the St. Patrick's Women's Group, and made possible through many generous donations. Construction began with the installation of the footer on February 10, 2023 and was completed with the dedication and the releasing of four doves, representing the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, and all the souls of the unborn.

On Saturday, June 17, 2023, council #1411 moved the retiring Father Pentello to his condo in Uniontown.

Landscaping for the Memorial to the Unborn began on Wednesday, May 24, and was completed on Friday, May 26.

On May 20, 2023, council #1411 presented Christian Character Awards to Jackson Taiclet, Claire Michlberger, Aiden Fox and Kristina Jalics. Claire and Kristina were also the recipients of $500 tuition scholarships as they will be continuing their educations at Catholic High Schools. Presenting the awards were Grand Knight Mark Latini and Father Richard Pentello.

On February 10, 2023, workers installed the footer for the Memorial to the Unborn on the north side of St. Patrick Church. The memorial was placed on the footer March 28, 2023. The landscaping will be completed in the spring and the dedication service will be held in June.

Past Grand Knight Rich Fortin (right) presents a $600 donation from St. Patrick Council #1411 to St. Patrick School principal Howard Mancini on Monday, Jan. 30, 2023. The donation is the first of two the Knights will present to the school this calendar year for assistance as needed. Another $600 donation will be made in August.
